On April 29, 2024, the canonry chapter convened to elect their new Abbot, as the term of Rt. Rev. Marcus Champia O.Praem concluded. Of the total 91 eligible members who could vote, 83 were present during the chapter proceedings. The remaining members who couldn’t attend in person entrusted their vote to proxies who participated in the chapter on their behalf.

The election commenced with a solemn invocation of the Holy Spirit, seeking divine guidance for the members tasked with selecting the new Abbot. Presiding over the proceedings was Abbot General Rt. Rev. Jos Wouters O.Praem, overseeing the sacred duty. After thoughtful consideration, the members collectively elected Rev. Fr. Arul Amalraj O.Praem as the new Abbot to lead the canonry.

With the blessing of the Abbot General, the appointment of Fr. Arul Amalraj O.Praem as the new Abbot was officially announced. Following this announcement, Fr. Arul Amalraj O.Praem accepted the responsibility with humility and dedication, offering words of commitment and guidance to his fellow members.
