The Canons Regular of Premontre

Kollam Priory

Norbertine fathers were invited to work on the land that gave the 1st Indian saint to the catholic church. In 1974 two of our confreres left for Kerala to work in Kollam dioceses on the invitation from the bishop of Kollam. Later in the year 1977, St. John the Baptist Parish was entrusted to the Norbertines to take care of the pastoral needs of the people. The active pastoral ministry inspired many bishops and laid Norbertine communities across the state through 5 different communities.  Today we are proud and happy to see this priory raised to the status of autonomous canonry. Canonry of Verapoli – Immaculate conception priory.
